Here We Grow

There are some great things going on at Fairview. As Pastor Milan introduced our new way of doing "church" at Fairview there are so many great things that are going on as well. Remember that as we learn to be a disciple in our church and to our community we are learning to Receive Grace, Share Grace, and Live Grace. This is how we Experience Grace!

I am reminded of the passage in the Bible when Peter, one of the closest people to Jesus had said that he did not know Christ. Even though he had journeyed through the crowds with him, had prayed with him, watched as he healed other's, and knew him very well! I would like to say that is ridiculous. How could someone who had seen him and walked all this way with him act like he had never met the man? But I am afraid that I would be right there with him saying I never met the man. Do you think Peter knew what he was doing and just had a minor jog of the brain or was he thinking he would never been found out, or perhaps he doubted himself who Christ was. Regardless, in the 21 chapter of John Jesus welcomed Peter, accepting that he, like us, had made a mistake and was still welcome at the table through grace! There is something else to this story that I like...though Jesus knew that Peter had denied him he still gave Peter his commission. Despite the mess up Jesus said, feed my sheep." This tells me that Jesus thought that Peter was still worthy of the commission originally given to him. I can relate, even as a pastor I screw up and make mistakes, yet God will not remove my commission to serve him in ministry. Sometimes ill or harm can come from the one's that you least expect it from such as your family, and even your church. In light of all of these things God still loves you and can still use you for His glory. This is grace to me!

On the horizon for our church lies some great things. We have an increasing need for space for Sunday School classes, small groups, youth events, and our Kids Church. Since our recent transition to 2 services we are still seeing an increased need for space. This is way we are currently looking at jump starting our new educational wing building program. This new facility will house our youth group upstairs in a large room format, while also providing 6 new classrooms on the lower level. Also, the new facility will have a large set of restrooms which we are in desperate need of. This will still be a multi-purpose facility but will meet the immediate need for Sunday School rooms while freeing up room in the current building for our growing Fairview Kids program. I will add some sketches here but you can also view them in the information center near the main entrance of the church. Be praying about how you might contribute to the upcoming building fund campaign for this project. And, as always remember to lift up Fairview in your prayers as we try to listen to what God wants us to do!

A New Day

You might be wondering about where you can find more information about our church and things related to our church. Well, search no more. My name is Chris McMurray and I am the Administrative Pastor at Fairview Church in Falkville, Alabama. The staff at Fairview needed a means to highlight special events, devotional thoughts, etc. So, welcome to our blog. Be sure to check the blog regularly because we will be adding things often. Also, Pastor Milan may even make a special appearance for devotions and thoughts about our vision. For more information including our church calendar visit our website at www.fairviewchurchofgod.com.
